Hymns from Whitefield Sanctuary, Volume Two
Music : Sacred Vocal
Hymns from Whitefield Sanctuary, Volume TwoAudio CD Various A number of individuals have requested copies of the music presented during the worship services in Whitefield Sanctuary on the campus of Foundations Bible College. When these sacred hymns and offertories were recorded live, it was not with the intention to release them in a recorded form. However, we have decided to make a compilation of these recordings available, as they are, with the hope they will be a blessing to God’s remnant.

One of the greatest honors given to a redeemed human being is to render “service” to God through worship. It truly is the highest expression of the soul to its Creator and Redeemer. But the apostle Paul declared in First Corinthians 14:15, “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” The sanctity of “service” to God in worship must be with a biblical understanding of the message rendered in service, as well as an anointed heart in the Spirit.

Yet such “service” in worship must be clarified in these days when churches have intentionally cast aside biblical absolutes in their living, when the world has pervaded the Church’s concept of Christianity, and when the existential Charismatic movement has brought in the nebulous contemporary sound in its perspective of worship music. The modern church tries to convince us that God accepts any form of worship and style of music as long as the motive is sincere. Amidst sincerity, people can be sincerely wrong. No doubt Cain was sincere in bringing his offering to God; yet the Bible is very clear, his offering was not accepted by God. It was not given according to the pattern appointed by God and thus was not given in biblical faith. The cry of the Lord to the contemporary church may be found in Amos 5:23: “Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.” So much of the sound of today’s Fundamentalism is “pretty” music with weakness of message and melody.

We send these recordings forth from the Whitefield Sanctuary of Foundations Bible Collegiate Church, taken directly as they were presented in the worship services. May these hymns prove to be music in biblical “service” to God and for the edification of God’s people.
